Cancer is one of the deadliest and most dangerous types of sickness as it could suddenly come up in one’s life and cut it short often in a silent, creeping way that wouldn’t usually be detected until it is too late.
In a Facebook status by netizen Nikki Villamer, she posted a loving and a heartwarming tribute to her mom who died of thyroid cancer. She also talked about how we shouldn’t take our parents for granted, especially if they’re afflicted with sickness.
According to her, it all began in January 2016, when she felt that “it” would happen. She narrated that once she begins to think about it, it will always bring her tears.
Villamer narrated that when she found out about her mother’s condition, she wished her to be alive for two more years because “she’s still not prepared.” As a daughter, she still had lots of dreams and goals for her mom.
She recounted that they will still use the money they had saved for her enrollment in AUF or the Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga because that’s what her mother wanted for her.
Apart from that, Villamer also stated that they have lots of plans for her debut. In fact, her mother even promised her a car even though all of her siblings were against it. Her mom also said that she would allow her to embark on a tour by the time she turns 18.
By October 2016, Villamer claimed that she and her mother had lots of arguments and misunderstanding, a moment she regretted the most. According to her, it went on until December, when her father suddenly approached her.
This was when she found out that her mother has thyroid cancer.
Villamer detailed how much she had spent the last moments with her mother and how she lovingly cherished each and every one of them. She narrated that she will never forget how much her mother loved her.
Villamer ended her post with the statement, “Habang tinatype ko 'to iniimbalsamo kana mama, pero umaasa padin ako last minute, habang patapos nako baka sakaling bigla kang mabuhay.”
She also reminded netizens and people her age that they should never harbor deep feelings of hatred or dislike towards their parents, especially at their period of young adulthood.
