Erwin Tulfo, an outspoken and controversial news anchor and broadcaster, recently went on a tirade bashing Vice President Leni Robredo.
Tulfo's lengthy rant about the Vice President was prompted by Leni's message to the United Nations, where she urged them to investigate the alarming number of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.
His statements parrot the ones recently released by Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Abella also criticized VP Robredo for her findings regarding the Duterte regime's bloody war on drugs.
Tulfo is notorious for being brash and outspoken during his broadcasts, typically accompanied by his equally brash and outspoken brothers, Raffy and Ben. His radio shows usually involve him and his brothers dealing with government slights on the disenfranchised.
Tulfo continued his tirade against VP Robredo with, "alam niyo ba, Vice President, kasiraan na naman sa ating bayan yan... Ikaw ang pinakamataas na pwesto sa ating bayan! Ikaw pa ang sisira sa ating bayan!"
Despite Tulfo's self-professed moral high ground, he himself is no stranger to controversy. In 2012, the Tulfo brothers - Erwin, Ben, and Raffy - were suspended for 3 months by the MTRCB for airing on-air threats against Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto. They also had to pay a fine amounting to PHP 100,000. Their threats were prompted by their older brother Ramon's squabble with the two celebrities.
Tulfo was also involved in the misappropriated PDAF funds in 2014 when he reportedly received PHP 245,535 from Nabcor under the auspices of "advertising expenses."
