A A nurse who was having her breakfast at a McDonald’s in Sarasota, Florida was at the exact right place at the exact right time. She came to the rescue of a woman who was giving birth in a cubicle of the comfort room.
The restaurant employees and customers heard Cathy Jordan screaming. A man went to the bathroom to check up on Jordan, but rushed out in panic. He asked and shouted, "Are you okay?” to which she answered, “No! I’m having a baby!”
Her husband, Sean, was with their 2-year-old son and was ordering food when he heard his wife screaming and rushed to the bathroom. One of the assistant managers of the store looked after their infant.
Sean admitted that when April said that she was a nurse, they were all relieved and saw how brave the woman was. “She was scared, she was ready for anything. She was amazing,” Sean said of April.
Jones was able to deliver the baby, but he wasn’t breathing. The baby was blue, so Jones clamped the umbilical cord, and when paramedics cut it, the baby started breathing, Jones said.
"Everything I needed to do just came to me," Jones said during the ABC News interview. "I thought to myself, 'This has to be the strongest child I have ever seen in my life.' "
The couple named the baby Parker, who was born one month early and was still healthy. He weighed 5 pounds and 9 ounces. The baby was rushed to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital after the delivery.
