Teachers are our second moms. But certainly this 15-year-old student from Cagayan De Oro City thinks otherwise. Senior High School student Pedro "Oloy" N. Roa stabbed his teacher to death last Tuesday at 8 am in the morning during their class.
The teacher was identified as the 43-year-old Vilma Cabactulan who was the adviser of Grade 9-Mendeleev, the section in which Roa belongs to. She was immediately brought to Madonna and Child hospital after the incident but later died due to severe stab wounds.
Police Chief Inspector Arvies Altitche recovered a knife and the student's bag in the crime scene. He was then convinced by his parents to surrender to the authorities. He was then brought to the Regional Office of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The investigation also suggested that Roa had two accomplices which are both his classmates according to Police Officer 1 Marian Mae Tolentino of the station’s WCPD. The teacher allegedly shames Roa in the class frequently, which might have triggered the student to do such crime. He was also frequently called out for being absent and using phone in classes.
He was described as a quiet boy who might have held grudges against the teacher and later exploded to rage.
Meanwhile, the family is yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
