An alliance group held a motorcycle rally last September 11, asking Sen. Leila De Lima to step down for her alleged links in drug operations.
The Alliance of Media and Riders Action Works (Tamaraw) had a motorcade in Quezon City Memorial Circle, led by their founder and President Rodrigo Duterte supporter Even Demata.
According to their Facebook page, the purpose of the motorcade is to force De Lima to resign as one of the Philippine senators after she was linked in the illegal drug trade in New Bilibig Prison.
“Layon ng parade na ito na pagbitiwin si Senator Leila De Lima sa Senado dahil sa pagiging protector nito sa mga drug lords at pagkami sa mga kriminal,” Tamaraw member Bhoyet Abanto said.
Abanto said there will be more motorcade rally for the resignation of De Lima.
De Lima, a known critic of Duterte due to his unorthodox way of fighting against drugs, was the target of the administration’s supporters even before Duterte was hailed as the president.
Several people, including Duterte, linked De Lima in the different illegal drug operations inside the country’s biggest prison. Despite all of the attacks, De Lima still refused to resign, saying resigning is a sign of admitting to the rumors.
