In an article released by GMA News, the daughter of late ex-President Ferdinand Marcos, Imee Marcos, asked his father's critics to finally let go and forgive his father for what he has done during his regime.
Imee Marcos expressed her request in a speech she delivered during the celebration of her father's supposed 99th birth anniversary in Ilocos Norte and defended her father's being prone to mistakes as he was only a human.
On the other hand, a Martial Law victim who was from the Ilocos region named Crisanto Palabay had opposed the Governor and said that peace will only be achieved if the Marcos family considers themselves liable to what Ferdinand Marcos did during his two-decade rule.
For the record, Ferdinand Marcos was accused to be responsible for innumerable cases of human rights violation and ill-gotten wealth of billion pesos. According to Marcoses' critics, these atrocities should be enough for the Supreme Court to deny his hero's burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Meanwhile, the Marcoses refused to give their comments about the issue but rather hoped for its resolution soon. In addition, Ilocos Norte representative and the dictator's widow Imelda Marcos believed that "truth and justice will eventually prevail," hoping that it would be in the favor of his late husband.
