Actress Kris Aquino showed on her Instagram posts last Monday that she decided to leave ABS-CBN as she signed for a TV project under APT Entertainment, which is associated with GMA-7.
Although dismayed by the actress’ decision, Kane Errol Choa, Head of ABS-CBN’s Corporate Communications said they respect Aquino’s departure from the network.
"We thank Kris for the many years that she has been a Kapamilya bringing joy, hope, and inspiration to our viewers worldwide. She will always be a Kapamilya and we wish her well in her new journey," the statement read.
It was Boy Abunda, Kris’ manager, who first talked to APT’s Tony Tuviera and arranged their meeting with them.
Kris Aquino was among various shows and teleseryes in the network and her last show was ‘Kris Tv’ that aired its final show last March.
She hosted "Morning Girls With Kris and Korina" with veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez and "Boy & Kris" with friend Boy Abunda.
Aquino was also one of the original hosts of the entertainment shows "The Buzz" and "Showbiz News Ngayon," both with Abunda, which helped earn her the title of "Queen of All Media."
At one point, she was also dubbed the "Queen of Game Shows" as she hosted "The Price Is Right," "Pilipinas Game KNB," "Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal" and "Wheel of Fortune."
She was also one of the hosts of the noontime variety show "Pilipinas Win Na Win" with Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla, and was one of the original judges on "Pilipinas Got Talent."
Aside from hosting, Aquino also acted on teleseryes like "Hiram," "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo," and "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."
After 22 years as one of the top stars of ABS-CBN, the actress still expressed her gratitude for the network and her “new” family.
