- A mother was devastated after expected guests to her son’s birthday celebration cancelled an hour before the party
- Rachelle Briannan turned to Midnight Mums to express her frustration over the circumstance
- Midnight Mums, a Facebook Mom Group, gave Rachelle’s son, Taenon, the best birthday party
MELBOURNE, Australia – Every mom wants to give her child the best birthday party. And what could be more special than seeing your kid enjoy at the very party you prepared, surrounded by other kids, who, at a very young age, your child calls his friends?
But what’s a party for if no one’s coming to celebrate it with you?
Rachelle Briannan turned to Midnight Mums Facebook group to express her frustration after guests to her son’s birthday celebration cancelled an hour before the party. The Melbournian mom, grief-stricken, sought for advice. She wrote in her post:
“So I’m sitting in my room quietly crying. 12 kids were invited to my son’s party today, and an hour before every one of them cancels or just doesn’t reply to my msgs. My son just turned 4 and this is the first time he’s really understood the whole party with friends thing. My heart is literally broken for him!! I’m so hurt and angry. What the hell can I do to make this up to him? Seriously, like I made him this huge superhero cake and there’s going to be no one to even sing happy birthday to him.”
It was a desperate call. But little did Rachelle know that her post will give her son, Taenon, the best party he deserves.
According to Mashable, around 30 kids flocked to Eltham McDonald’s where the party was held. A local party supplier, called Veronica’s Pantry, handed out number 4 helium balloons for free. And the surprise participation of the local Nillumbik State Emergency Service (SES) topped the party off with the kids exploring their trucks.
Overwhelmed by the good deed, Rachelle virtually sent a thank you message to the Midnight Mums Facebook page. She said in a heartfelt note:
“We are just so overwhelmed with love and support it’s incredible.
“I was also so happy to see people forming friendships at his party, not just kids but the parents.
“In the most dire of circumstances, it’s proof that there’s plenty of awesome people out there.”
Now who would ever think that a party, on the verge of becoming a disaster, will turn out to be an unforgettable, celebrated birthday bash? Thanks to the kind people on the internet.
