- LP standard bearer made one last-ditch pitch to undecided voters
- He told them he and Robredo will improve the gov’t and fix its mistakes
- He also promised them they will listen to and address their concerns
MANILA, Philippines – Even as D-Day draws near, Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas promised undecided voters he and his running mate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo will improve the government and addressed its shortcomings wherever they may be found.
“I know deciding who to vote for will not be easy for you. Maybe you have chosen other candidates already. But we also know that the government has its shortcomings and that your complaints are valid,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted him as saying. “But as Leni and I have been saying, we will fill up what’s lacking. If there are shortcomings, we will correct them.”
According to Roxas, their tandem’s political will ensures they will continue on the Aquino administration’s accomplishments and bring about reforms in areas which need improvement.
“We will apply our strong political will. We will go against anyone who will get in the way, but we won’t let your complaints be unheard,” he said. “I’m calling on all of you. Join Leni and me. We have come this far but we can go farther if we will unite and ensure the victory of a clean and honest administration.”
Roxas, who has been consistently lagging behind Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in presidential surveys, has remained upbeat about his chances in the elections and claimed many were transferring to his side.
“Our rivals are going down, while we are going up. This is a reflection of the trust the people have continued to give us, and we thank them for it,” he said.
“There are still many things to come. The ground is shifting. I have been receiving many texts. A lot of people are joining us,” Roxas added.
