An artist has created over 3,500 birdhouses around the world; in a bid to help birds continue to leave,
“Over the last seven years, I have made more than 3500 birdhouses in various projects all over the world. Birds are some of the few animals still living in our cities, and I began this project because I thought that it was important to make sure that they can continue living here,” Thomas Dambo wrote in an article that was published on Bored Panda
According to him, the project is about creating a shelter for birds and reminding us that it’s important to leave room for birds
“People always ask me if birds use the houses. My answer is that birds move into the houses if there are birds in the area, so birds will not move into the houses if they are hung on a light pole next to a noisy road. But they will do it in a tree in a park. The project is both about creating a shelter for birds, and also about reminding us that it’s important to leave room for birds in the urban world,” he shared.
Dambo is an artist and designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He and his crews make beautiful and fun projects out of “trash” or recycled materials, which they find around the city dumpsters. By doing this he hopes to inspire people to have fun and think of trash as a ressource. Dambo makes anything from minor design projects like furniture and interior design to small and huge art projects, often involving his surroundings and the people around him.
