- A British woman was denied entry to Thailand over missing passport pages
- She admitted to have ripped the pages and used them in the toilet after a drunken nightout with friends
- She was forced to return home and apply for a new passport
A British woman was denied entry by Thailand airport authorities after the latter discovered some missing pages from her passport which appeared to have been ripped deliberately.
Faye Wilson, a 28-year-old hairdresser from Lake District was planning to stay in Thailand for a month before moving to her job in Australia where she will be working for a year.
But Wilson said she was left embarrassed after Thai immigration officials discovered two missing pages from her passport and she couldn’t explain how it happened.
“Thai immigration just opened my passport and started looking through it, and asked ‘what’s happened here’?” Wilson said.
“I just said that I had lost the pages because I was too embarrassed to explain the real reason,” she added. “Before I could explain more, they had deported me back to Dubai and then to Glasgow and confiscated my documents.”
Wilson later admitted she ripped the pages herself during a drunken nightout with friends after using a toilet and found there were no toilet rolls around.
“We decided it would be a good idea to use my passport, which is obviously really stupid. It was maybe two or three pages. I was a bit drunk so didn’t even think about the consequences,” she recalled.
She further claimed it was the very first time since using her passport with ripped pages at least eight times over the last five years that she encountered a problem at the immigration.
Nevertheless, Wilson was forced to return home to get another passport so she can go back to Thailand to meet her friend she left behind.
She added she could have sorted things out had the airport in Glasgow informed her she might face trouble in entering another country with the current state of her travel document.
