A professor from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) was found dead by his churchmate inside his condominium unit in Pasay City, on the evening of February 10. He succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
In an article published on GMA, police are looking into robbery as one of the motives in the killing of victim Isagani Sta. Maria after initial investigation found out that his mobile phone and wallet are missing.
According to a security guard near the area, the last time he saw Sta. Maria alive was when he was accompanied by a man; a pedicab driver. To note, the victim has been separated from his wife for some time and was living alone.
In social media, a lot of students and professors from PUP expressed grief over the death of the one they describe as a good and jolly person.

Last week lang pinag-uusapan ka pa namin kasi namimiss ka na namin [He is one of my favorite and one of the best professors I’ve ever known. There’s no dull moment in his class. You’d go out of his classroom with a smile on your face. I remember we were only talking about him because we missed him already],” expressed N. Malgapo.
