Liza Soberano: The Next Face of Miss Universe

Filipina teen sweetheart, Liza Soberano, recently placed 6th among 100 World’s Most Beautiful Faces of 2015 according to British Movie Critics. It is actually the first time since the list began in 1990 that Filipinos were included in the list.

Although the list is dominated by the Korean star Nana and other British and US ladies, the 18-year old primetime princess is one of the two Filipinas who made it along with Kathryn Bernardo, 80^th placer .

Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress and British model Jourdan Dunn bagged the 2^nd and 3^rd spots consecutively. Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione in the “Harry Potter” film franchise, was at the fourth spot, while famous Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani was fifth.

TC Candler reportedly mentioned that it is not popularity contest and that it attempts to form a public opinion instead of reflecting it.

TC Candler also explained that the list tries to put together a representative of the modern ideal of beauty and that aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria. They also claimed that this list has taken into consideration the opinion of a group called “The Independent Critics,” which are a diverse group of men and women, young and old, originating from and living in various parts of the world.

In an interview with a reporter in a news entity in the Philippines, designer Rene Salud complemented the exquisiteness of Soberano, even convincing the actress to join Binibining Pilipinas. Salud also said that her beauty is way far better that other faces in the industry.

After Pia Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe 2015 title, she praised Liza’s beauty and mentioned her potential to win the said pageant.

However, Soberano said while she is thankful for the compliments from the reigning Miss Universe, joining the Miss Universe pageant is not in her plans although she is not closing the door to the possibility.
