Claudine Barretto finally speaks up about helping a gunshot victim

In recent news, Claudine Barretto reportedly saved a gunshot victim and gave him a ride to the hospital. According to a report published by ABS-CBN, the 38-year-old celebrity was thankfully in the same hospital where the wounded man – identified as Abelardo Espela was first rushed. However, due to lack of equipment and insufficient medical supplies, the institution in Marikina refused to give aid to the victim. Unfortunately, there was no available ambulance to transfer the victim to another hospital.

Claudine Barretto who was in the same place giving away Christmas gifts to her friends, witnessed the event and did not give a second thought to help. In an interview with radio program DZMM, she narrated how she noticed the victim’s relatives tried their best to look for a cab who could take them to another hospital.

However, they struggled looking for a willing cab or even tricycle since the man was supposedly covered with his own blood. Thus, Claudine decided to offer her car and gave them a ride to another hospital. She admitted that the family was shocked as they did not expect that the actress would offer help.

She said:
“Nahiya sila kasi puro dugo nga iyong kotse. Pero siyempre, ginawa ko lang naman kung ano iyong gagawin ng kahit sino siguro na nasa posisyon ko.”

When they arrived to the well-facilitated hospital, the wounded man was able to have an immediate operation.

Claudine added, “It was a miracle. Siguro I was at the right place at the right time.”

Despite seeing the man covered with his own blood, Claudine Barretto admitted that she did not have hesitations in helping.

She shared:
“Wala, tulong agad. Hindi ako natakot sa dugo. Hindi ko alam kung bakit. Ang instant reaction ko was to make sure na kailangan madala agad sa hospital [iyong victim].”
