Iris Mittenaere of France is the newest title holder of the prestigious 65th Miss Universe pageant.
The 24-year old French model and beauty queen made her country proud for bagging the pageant's sash and crown. The newest beauty queen surpassed 85 other candidates with her winning answer for tonight's competition. With the help of an interpreter, Iris made the most comprehensible answer that won the favor of everybody.
As one of the top three finalists, she was asked, "Name something over the course of your life that you failed at, and tell us what you learned from that experience"
Iris' confident answer appealed the panel of judges and it made her deserving of the most coveted Miss Universe title.
The beauty queen slayed the question-and-answer portion with a story of how she failed to become part of a casting she applied for. According to her, that certain life event helped her realize that failure should encourage a person to keep on going.
"I failed several times in my life. So I thought that I failed the first time that I went out on a casting because my name wasn’t on the list. And the very next day, I found that I was in a new book. So I think that when you fail, you have to be elevated, and that you have to try again, and keep going," Iris said.
The 2016 Miss Universe made a follow-up to her answer saying that if she failed to get the 65th Miss Universe title, it will still be an honor fo her to be a part of the Top Three finalists.
"If tonight, I am not one of the winners, I will still have the great honor of being one of the three finalists. So I think if I have failed before, but for me this is a great first opportunity," the beauty queen added.
Iris' answer proved that France indeed should be proud for producing beauty queens like her.
Iris was with Miss Universe Haiti Raquel Pelissier and Miss Universe Colombia Andrea Tovar in the top three finalists. Miss Haiti finished as first runner-up while Miss Colombia was named second-runner up.
