Behind every famous star lies a group of supportive people - from family members to longtime helpers.
In ABS-CBN star Judy Ann Santos' case, it was her nanny.
Sabina Domanagas Quintana, fondly known as Nanay Binay, died on January 31 this morning.
ABS-CBN News reported that Nanay Binay died of complications brought about by cancer at the age of 69. Judy Ann relayed the news on her Instagram page, saying "Mami-miss ko lambing mo pag binibisita mo kami. Ikaw ang dahilan kung bakit andito ako ngayon."
Nanay Binay recently celebrated her 69th birthday last Monday in the hospital where she was confined. She was initially a cook in the Santos household before becoming Juday's nanny. When Carol, Juday's mother, worked abroad, Nanay Binay was the one who took care of her and her siblings.
According to Carol, Nanay Binay wouldn't eat until her children have already eaten. "Kaya nung umalis ako wala akong sinabihan sa mga kamag-anak ko, siya talaga. Kung wala si Binay 'di din ako aalis kasi wala akong mapagkakatiwalaan sa mga bata," she said.
When Judy Ann was just starting her career in showbiz, it was Nanay Binay who accompanied her throughout the journey. Her mother continued by saying, "Siya yung matiyagang nagdadala sa mga taping. Saka si Judy Ann nalibot niya ang buong sulok ng Pilipinas dahil kay Binay."
Juday began acting at the tender age of seven but got broke through into the mainstream in 1998 when she portrayed the leading role in 'Esperanza.' The role earned her the moniker the 'Soap Opera Princess' as dubbed by the press.
