MANILA, Philippines – For real?
According to Facebook page “Change is Possible”, convicted kidnapper Jaybee Sebastian was never involved in the illegal drug trade inside New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
In two lengthy posts titled “JAYBEE SEBASTIAN: AGENT OF CORRUPTION OR AGENT OF CHANGE?” and “THE TRUTH ABOUT JAYBEE SEBASTIAN”, Change is Possible claimed that Sebastian — aside from saying he was imprisoned thanks to a Chinese who “double-crossed” him in a business dealing — was genuinely seeking to reform himself in prison.
It disputed the claim that Sebastian was a VIP; saying he neither lived in a luxurious “kubol” nor kept any contraband during his 15 years in prison. The videos of him wallowing in supposed luxury, the page said, was nothing but “election propaganda” since it was taken in 2012.
The page also denied that Sebastian was a drug lord; saying that he was not part of the original “Bilibid 19” who were transferred to maximum-security because they were found to be living like kings and had illegal items like drugs in their cells.
“He was not part of the original “Bilibid 19” that was found with illegal contrabands and transferred to the NBI compound and later on transferred to Building 14 and isolated from the general population of Maximum Security Prison,” the page claimed.
Change is Possible also contended that Sebastian was the model of a good inmate inside Bilibid; having been the organizer and point man for various programs like workshops and sportsfests.
To prove it, the page shared several photos of Sebastian spearheading various activities inside Bilibid. Some of the pictures even showing him mingling with well-known government officials.
In its two posts, the page urged the public to give Sebastian — and anyone else — who is truly sincere a chance to change themselves.
“Let’s give CHANGE a CHANCE… Especially to those that are TRYING to change themselves given the CORRUPTION and CRIME surrounding them,” the page said.
FB users who read the posts angrily blasted the page; saying Sebastian’s sincerity — if he had any — was not an excuse for him to live like a free man inside the prison. Many also said if the programs Sebastian was sponsoring came from ill-gotten means, then it is still not okay.

FACT: Jaybee Sebastian was NEVER named as a drug lord by any official in government or police. Even the “Bilibid 19” don’t point their fingers at him. It has only been MEDIA that has been naming him as a druglord without basis or evidence.
FACT: Jaybee Sebastian was never charged nor convicted for drug dealing as a free man nor as a convict.
FACT: He was convicted and sentenced for kidnapping and carnapping 15 years ago but NOTHING related to DRUGS.
FACT: Jaybee Sebastian was never found in possession of illegal drugs or even illegal weapons in his entire 15 years in prison.
WHY IS HE IN “BUILDING 14” WITH THE “BILIBID 19” IF HE IS NOT A DRUG DEALER?
FACT: He was not part of the original “Bilibid 19” that was found with illegal contrabands and transferred to the NBI compound and later on transferred to Building 14 and isolated from the general population of Maximum Security Prison.
FACT: He was only transferred when election season neared and certain politicians running for higher office were pressured by the public. The same public that were influenced by videos and meme’s but actually don’t have tangible evidence of wrongdoings.
FACT: His isolation from general population happened without evidence and due process and actually is against his human rights.
FACT: Since no evidence of illegal weapons, drugs and contrabands were discovered from him… And no cases were ever filed against him.. Or official reports stating him as one… Tagging him as a druglord is actually against his rights.
BUT THERE ARE VIDEOS TO PROVE THAT HE IS A VIP WITH SPECIAL TREATMENT!
FACT: Those videos was shot and aired in 2012.
FACT: It ony circulated in the Philippines in 2015-2016 during election season. A LOT OF *Expletive* PROPAGANDA AND MISINFORMATION CIRCULATED AND ARE STILL CIRCULATING AROUND.
FACT: In 2012-2014, New Prison Bilibid was run by a former Chief of Task Force Davao.
FACT: This were the times of unprecedented PEACE and PRODUCTIVITY run by both firm discipline towards sustainable rehabilitation.
FACT: In 2012-2014, Jaybee Sebastian was:
• Elected CHAIRMAN of the “Council of Elders.”
• Elected PRESIDENT of “Liga ng mga Baranggay sa Bilibid”
• Appointed HEAD COORDINATOR of “BuCor’s Events and Production Management Staff”
• Appointed HEAD COORDINATOR of Munti Paraiso Foundation.
• Appointed PROGRAM DIRECTOR of Bilibid TV Channel, the video production arm for inmates and used even by BuCor officials for their vide requirements.
• By his stature and leadership having been democratically elected via secret ballots by his peers and appointed by BuCor Officials he became the Official SPOKESPERSON during official functions for all the inmates of Maximum Security Prison.
FACT: JAYBEE SEBASTIAN as a leader of the inmates RESIGNED when there was change of leadership among prison officials and when he saw the relaxation of rules and discipline.
TRIVIA: it is well known in New Bilibid Prison that he fought with prison officials during this time. In his words: “Bakit niyo Binababoy Ang Bilibid?”
Now let us ask the question…. IS JAYBEE SEBASTIAN AN AGENT OF CRIME AND CORRUPTION OR CAN HE BE AN AGENT OF CHANGE… Just caught up in dirty politics and media myths?
We, in Change is Possible SINCERELY believe CHANGE can ONLY happen when we know the TRUTH, inspire HOPE and exact JUSTICE where it matters most.
And the process should START in the DEEPEST and DARKEST part of an individual or an institution before any real transformation can happen. This is true for ourselves, our community and our country.
And for the Philippines, the darkest and deepest part of our society is in Maximum Security Compound of New Bilibid Prison! The biggest, most congested, under-manned, under-funded and arguably one of the most CORRUPT institutions in the Philippines, filled with no less than our country’s convicted criminals.
If we want CHANGE to really happen let TRUTH, HOPE and JUSTICE prevail on Jaybee Sebastian and ALL Maximum Prison Convicts.
Let us ASSIGN appropriate punishment for those found doing evil. But for those that are doing their best to rehabilitate themselves and their environment let us support and reward their efforts. That is the only way we can truly achieve the sustainable and sincere change we want.
Let’s give change a chance! Especially for those trying to change themselves.
JAYBEE SEBASTIAN: AGENT OF CORRUPTION OR AGENT OF CHANGE?
Corruption and Crime will only be overcome if Truth and Justice and Hope prevails in the deepest and darkest areas of society. Let’s find the Truth and apply Justice on this Jaybee Sebastian if we can Hope for any sincere and sustainable change to happen not only in our prisons but the rest of our society.
Note: Facts are the building blocks of the truth. Let us base our opinions on facts.
FACT 1: New Bilibid Prison was already Congested, Corrupted and Crime infested even before Jaybee Sebastian was convicted and sentenced in Maximum Security. The system was alread broken and gangs ruled with violence.
FACT : Jaybee Sebastian was NOT convicted for drugs. His case 15 years ago involved a double-crossed business dealing with a Chinese who filed a case of kidnapping and carnapping against him.
FACT : The Chinese Businessman is still alive and free.
FACT : Jaybee Sebastian was never linked or named by authorities in both the past and present administration for Drug Trade.
FACT : There was never any illegal weapons or illegal drugs found in his possession for his entire 15 years inside prison.
FACT : He was ONLY TRANSFERRED in Building 14 with the rest of the “Bilibid 19” DURING ELECTION SEASON.
NOT FACT BUT OPINION: It’s possible he was also transferred by the authorities then because of Politics, Pressure from the Public and Media. NO PROOF OF ANY WRONGDOING WAS EVER FOUND AGAINST HIM THAT MERITS HIS TRANSFER.
FACT : Edited videos and malicious pictures with bold texts were spread in social media linking him to the drug trade in 2016.
FACT : Those videos and pics were taken in 2014.
FACT : In 2012 – 2014, the New Bilibid Prison was run by a former chief of Task Force Davao.
FACT : This was the time of unprecedented PEACE and PRODUCTIVITY in the entire history of New Bilibid Prison Maximum Security.
FACT : Jaybee Sebastian held the following official positions at that time…

FACT : Jaybee Sebastian gave up his personal KUBOL given to him as the Commander of Commando Gang and turned it into ALL-PURPOSE FACILITY of Munti Paraiso Foundation which initiated programs to support the less-privileged inmates and their families.
FACT : Munti Paraiso Foundation is a SEC registered organization duly recognized and authorized by BuCor officials.
FACT : For his tangible efforts and leadership BuCor and many other organizations working in Maximum Security Prison have awarded him with certificates and awards.

Lastly, here is a TRUTH, only God knows the workings of a man’s heart. So we can never really tell if Jaybee Sebastian is a CHANGED CONVICT or not. We can only judge based on the fruit of his actions.
Now here are our questions are:
IS THERE ANY PROOF TO ANY WRONGDOING BEING SPREAD ABOUT HIM?
IS THERE ANY CASE OF DRUG TRAFFICKING FILED AGAINST HIM?
DOES HE HAVE PROOF THAT HE IS TRYING HIS BEST TO CHANGE?
