The search is on for this year’s “Hack The CBD: The Pitch Battle for Urban Mobility Solutions” which aimed to look for the best and most innovative pitches that could possibly help solve traffic woes and other urban mobility problems in the metropolis.
As disclosed in an article published by Philippine Daily Inquirer, the contest is open to students and professionals residing in the Philippines.
Miko Morales, mobile editor from Inquirer Mobile said Hack The CBD is in search for the best ideas in minimizing the limited space of the metro using today’s technology.
Morales said the project was conceptualized to address urban mobility which has long been a problem in the Philippines as cars, infrastructure and people continue to populate the country.
The contest is open to individuals or teams of two to five members each, he said. Participants must upload a one-minute video on Vimeo of their “Urban Mobility Solution,” ranging from traffic solution, optimizing parking and urban logistics and green vehicles.
Those who will join are likewise task to include business and marketing plans, financial projections, competitive analysis and metrics in their entries.
Pitches that can be utilized in the country’s premier business hubs like the Makati central business district (CBD) and Bonifacio Global City will be given additional points.
Entries for the preliminary round are required to be submitted on or before 5 p.m. of June 6, 2016.
In addition to this, all entries which may be implemented with the investors, will be judged according to technical and financial viability, novelty, and sustainability.
Five finalists will be chosen from the preliminary round and will be invited to participate in a three-minute live pitch on June 13 at the Shangri-La at the Fort in Manila, which will be done in front of a panel of urban mobility experts and investors led by former Chicago Department of Transportation Commissioner, ZipCar executive and author Gabe Klein. A two-minute question-and-answer will follow each live pitch.
The best pitch which will be proclaimed as winner will receive a grand prize of $ 1,000 and a chance to meet with potential venture capitalists plus an opportunity to be featured on Inquirer Mobile.
