- Camp of Davao City mayor unfazed by latest survey showing him tied with Mar Roxas
- Duterte spokesman says results do not indicate the real feelings of the people
- He thanks Duterte’s supporters, says they are even more motivated to elevate him to victory
MANILA, Philippines – Unfazed by the latest Pulse Asia survey showing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in a statistical tie with Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas, his spokesman said the results do not really indicate who the people want as president.
“The survey does not reflect what we believe are the real sentiments of the Filipinos,” Peter Laviña told the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “On the ground, we are heartened and inspired by the positive and overwhelming responses from the people since we hit the campaign trail.”
With the result, Laviña said Duterte’s team is even more emboldened to work harder to ensure he win the elections.
“The recent Pulse Asia survey results give us more encouragement to work harder on the ground, motivated by the trust of the people on Rodrigo Duterte’s political agenda of genuine change for the Filipino and the country,” he said. “We have seen our numbers steadily advancing overall. But we have also seen where we are weak and need to catch up, as well as recognize, where we are making great nowadays.”
“We will remain remain vigilant and be on the lookout and will continue to work very hard for the victory of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the May 2016 presidential elections,” he added.
Vice President Jejomar Binay was the biggest winner in the latest survey; jumping from his previous score to statistically tie Sen. Grace Poe for first place.
Finishing dead last in the poll meanwhile was Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago who only garnered a single digit score.
