Super Tekla pleads for justice for his OFW sister’s death

Stand-up comedian Romero Librada, or more popularly known as “Super Tekla,” turned emotional as he called out for justice for his sister during a recent live video. He was appealing to the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait to probe his sister’s death who was an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

He said:

“Sana po matulungan tayo ng Embassy na masilip po ang kaso ng kapatid ko para malaman po namin kung siya po ay pinatay o nagpakamatay. Ang kapatid ko po ay isa rin po sa mga biktima [sa] mga Pilipinong inaabuso, minamaltrato sa ibang bansa.”

Tekla said that his sister was abused while in Kuwait. He added that he and the family would accept her fate if it is proven that she indeed took her own life. Nonetheless, he is still seeking help from the Embassy and the Philippine government to investigate what really happened to her.

“Ngayon po, kung siya naman po talaga ay nagpakamatay, tatanggapin po namin ‘yan, pero please, kailangan po namin na matulungan kami ng ating Embassy at ng ating gobyerno para matingnan at mabigyan ng agarang aksyon ang pagkamatay ng kapatid ko sa Kuwait.”

Tekla, who is currently in Canada, asked the public to share his video to heighten awareness on the abuse that OFWs experience. He said that this could also be a way to protect them from the abuse.

“Alam ko hindi lang ako ang nakakaranas ng ganito. Marami pong mga pangyayaring ganyan, pero wala pong choice kasi wala naman sila magawa. Buong puso po naming tatanggapin yun kung siya po ay nagpakamatay, pero sana po may pagkakataon bibiyan po kami ng laban para naman po mabigyan ng linaw ang pagkamatay ng kapatid ko.”
