Everyone has heard of commuting horror stories and the modus operandi that some drivers, and even robbers posing as passengers, engage in. This is why people prefer to use apps to book their rides. It makes them feel safer when they are able to monitor their rides, know their drivers’ identities, and share their ride statuses with family and friends in case something happens. However, every now and then, scary stories about these apps also pop up which make other riders wary when using them. Recently, a woman took to Facebook to share a horrible experience that she and her friend had when they used the app Grab to book a car coming from simbang gabi.
According to the netizen, she and her friend were on their way home from simbang gabi when she booked a ride from the said app. They were on their way to Sherwood Heights from Baclaran Church because they decided to go to another friend’s house after the mass. She immediately started uploading photos of their simbang gabi on Facebook once they got into the car. About 10 minutes into the ride, the driver allegedly opened the window to dispose of a piece of paper which the netizen did not mind.
After another 5 minutes, the netizen noticed that the driver took out something sharp from somewhere near his waist. She was surprised upon looking up at rear view mirror that the driver was already wearing a black mask. She also claimed that she could not tell her friend about it who was busy on his phone because the driver was looking at her.
Panicking, the netizen did not know what to do. Luckily, upon reaching a stoplight, she tried to open her door and found it unlocked. She and her friend immediately got out of the car and asked for help from the other cars that passed. Drivers stopped their cars to help them but the light suddenly went green, giving the Grab driver a chance to get away.
