Emphraim Montalbo, a nurse, was innocently driving along on F. Sotto Street, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, when he was apprehended by a Mercedes-Benz that reportedly belonged to David Lim Jr.
Montalbo was shot by Lim Jr. at around three in the morning of March 19, Sunday. He sustained two gunshot wounds on the knee. This happened because Montalbo wanted to overtake the Benz which was in front of him.
The two were on a narrow two-lane street. Lim Jr., meanwhile, refused to give way and emerged from his car with a female companion. Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that he kicked Montalbo’s car and punched him a few times.
But Lim. Jr. wasn’t satisfied and he immediately brought out a gun from his car. He fired at Montalbo four times before escaping from the scene.
Following the incident, Sun Star reported that the mayor of the city itself, Mayor Tomas Osmeña, barged into Lim Jr.’s house that night and brought the Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) with him.
They didn’t find the suspect and the mayor ordered an immediately filing for a warrant of arrest once they locate Lim Jr. He also alerted the authorities of the Mactan Cebu International Airport in case the suspect tried to flee.
However, on the morning of March 21, Tuesday, ABS-CBN News released the first mug shots of Lim Jr. in the official Facebook fan page.
According to the caption, he surrendered himself to the Police Regional Office VII Director, Noli Taliño.
