A Pastor angered many netizens from around the world after reportedly attempting to bomb his former church in Edo State.
The pastor was identified to be Abel Eku. He used to serve Chosen Church of God for 25 years in Benin but got dismissed not too long ago because of his marital affairs. He was bitter and planted bombs and explosives in the church's headquarters last January 22, and planned to blow them up on the day of the International conference of the church.
The Edo State Police detected the bombs and immediately detonated them. They were also able to seize the pastor as soon as they got hold of the explosives.
Eku admitted to the crimes but is without remorse. According to him, he didn't plan to kill but to scare the elders. This is to avenge his 'unjustifiable' dismissal.
“I am 57 years old. I had marital issues with my wife. We came to the church to resolve it and it was not resolved. It led to my dismissal. I was very bitter about the dismissal. I don’t have the intention of killing people. My action is very bad.” he said
When asked about how he became a pastor, he shared that his parents offered him as "a first fruit" after the struggle of bearing a child.
“I was given to the church as a first issue. My parents were married for many years without any issue, so they vowed at the alter that any first child God gave to them would be given to the church. That was how they gave me to the church” he said.
Netizens expressed their dismay over what happened but wished that the church would just forgive him and let him go. One netizen claimed: "Yes, it happened in my church and i know pastor Abel very well.Thank God for saving all of us at d conference ground, watever he did was out of faustration nd i think d church should forgive him nd let him go.After all God never allowed it to happen nd he was d one dat also informed d church about d bomb."
