The recently concluded Miss Universe earned different reactions from netizens. But most of them expressed their disappointment over Miss Philippines' bet, Maxine Medina. While Medina managed to get into the top 6, she drew flak after buckling a little in the question and answer portion.
Many criticized her for not using her interpreter in answering the question given to her. However, many also defended Medina, saying that she did her best. One of them is Anthony Taberna, a renowned journalist and TV reporter. In his Facebook page, he shared how despite being in the industry for 25 years, he still get nervous in front of the camera.
"Sa maniwala kayo at sa hindi... sa tuwing aakyat ako sa entablado sa harap ng maraming tao lalo na't kung may ilaw na nakatutok sa mukha ko, dinadaga pa rin ako. Kahit na 25 taon na ako sa trabaho sa broadcast media." he said.
He compared this with Medina's situation who faced the nerve-wracking part of the pageant with ease and confidence. He then posted different questions such as "Marami ang nadismaya sa sagot ng ating manok na si Maxine Medina sa tanong sa kaniya kanina pero kung tayo kaya ang andun? Kung ikaw kaya ang andun sa entablado at sa likod ng utak mo ay batid mong milyon milyong tao ang nanonood sa buong mundo? Ano kaya ang sagot mo sa biglaang tanong lalo't ikaw ang una?"
