With her 103rd birthday just a few weeks away, this 102-year-old woman from South Carolina shared her secret to longevity.
Mildred Bowers, a resident of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, celebrated her birthday with beer at Page’s Okra Grill, a local restaurant.
“It’s all in the genes, I feel okay because I’m in good health,” she said.
“My mind is good, I have no problem with that and that’s the big thing that a lot of people my age don’t have at my age is a good mind,” she added.
Answering the essential question on everyone’s mind, Bowers told reporters to “have a beer” for a long life.
“Have a beer, doctor’s orders.”
According to reports, the old woman practices what she preaches, as she drinks one cold beer a day while living in an assisted living facility.
Reporters also asked if she would suggest it to other seniors. She answered, “Yes, if they like it.”
“Doctor said it was good for her and obviously it is, still kicking,” confirms one of her friends.
Apparently, Bowers is not the first to claim this.
109-year-old Grace Jones from England also attributed her longevity to a “drop of whiskey every night.” A 110-year-old woman from New Jersey even claims that drinking a shot of scotch and three Miller High Lifes on a daily basis has kept her alive.
