A Japanese morning show has taught Japanese a new Filipino phrase: P***** I**. And it has gone viral.
This is part of the Japanese morning show’s news about Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s verbal attack against US President Barack Obama.
In a screenshot that went viral on the internet, the show explains that the curse word is translated to “son of a prostitute”, which is deemed as insulting and offensive to Japanese.
As of the press time, the show is still not identified. Their local version of Movie and Television Review and Classification Board allows the Filipino curse since it is not in Japanese and it is used for the purpose of useful information.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, Japan President Shinto Abe said Duterte is famous in his country and even invited the Filipino President to visit Japan.
Obama and Duterte had a brief discussion in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Dinner after the US president cancelled his supposed-to-be meeting with the Philippine president. He cancelled the meeting because of Duterte’s remarks, fearing their meeting would not be productive.
With that, he received backlash from diplomats, Americans, and the media, both local and international.
