President Rodrigo Duterte plans to give injured soldiers livelihood by training them as call center agents.
“[Sa] lahat nang naka-wheelchair, start, because I’ll send you to schools. Sabi ko balik kayo sa AB. Pa-eskwelahin ko kayo, learn English, voice and diction tapos improve on your grammar. Ipasok ko kayo sa call centers,” Duterte told the soldiers at the 3rd Infantry Division headquarters in Capiz.
The move is one of the many plans of the Commander-in-chief for the Armed Forces.
Recently, Duterte approved of P634-million worth of medical equipment for the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC). He also ordered the new construction of a 5-story building “immediately” that will house emergency and operating rooms.
“Kung nandoon kayo sa AFP, kapag gusto mo magpahinga ka muna…ang ospital ngayon, parang hotel,” he added. “Sabi ko, hindi ko kayo pababayaan.”
Last Tuesday, Duterte sat down and talked to injured soldiers at the AFPMC. He became teary-eyed after meeting a soldier who lost his eyesight during an operation in Maguindanao.
