Philippine National Police Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa admitted he is using an “armored car” as service because of threats to his life.
Dela Rosa emphasized, however, the car is not taken from PNP funding, but from “concerned businessmen” who are supporting the campaign against illegal drugs.
Last July 24, as much as 4,000 alleged drug pushers and users surrendered to the local police in Tagum City—the biggest mass surrender to date–after the PNP began their anti-drug operations, rounding off suspects in every barangay.
Dela Rosa, for his part, has no qualms in killing alleged pushers, who fight with the police.
“Yung matitigas na pusher, dapat pag putok dito [pointing to his crown] tama sa ulo,” he said in front of 3,000 surrenderees in Lipa.
“Life skills training para sa mga sumuko,” he added. “Magbibigay din ang LGU ng 20,000 pesos na pang-kapital sa negosyo.”
Because of the police’s aggressive campaign, dela Rosa said drug lords placed bounties on his and President Rodrigo Duterte’s head, worth P50 million each.
