A Filipina living in the French city of Nice recalled the moment she witnessed the heavy truck plowed into a lot of people celebrating Bastille Day, France’s biggest national holiday, in Nice, France. 84 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the attack.
She described the scene as chaotic and that mangled bodies are everywhere.
In an interview with “State of the Nation with Jessica Soho,” Emily Miclat narrated that the truck appeared just seconds after the fireworks display.
“Pagkatapos po ng firecrackers, mga seconds lang po, dumating po itong truck na ito. Inararo niya po yung maraming tao,” she said on the nightly news program of GMA News TV on Friday, July 15.

Miclat said they were down by the beach when the attack happened and saw the truck ram into the thick crowd.
“Nung umakyat po kami, nakita namin ang daming mga patay, wasak ang katawan po,” she said.
[When we came up, we saw a lot of dead people, their bodies mangled]
“Ang reaction ko po… kaagad po pumasok sa isipan ko is terrorist… kasi kaiba ang dating ng truck na iyon. Mabilis po ang pagtakbo niya. Talagang makikita mo ang motive niya ay pumatay ng tao,” she said.
[My reaction… the first thing that came to my mind was terrorist (attack)… because of the manner the truck appeared. It was running very fast. You can really see that the motive was to kill people]
She said no Filipinos were hurt in the attack.
French Police gunned down the truck driver. A second suspect is believed to be on the run.
