- Baron Geisler taunted Kiko Matos during their final faceoff before the bout
- He told Matos he needs just one punch to knock him out
- He also ridiculed the indie actor by calling him a monkey
MANILA, Philippines – There may have been no kissing or kicking between Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos this time, but the fireworks were still pretty much there.
During their final faceoff at the press conference hosted by the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA), Geisler vowed to shock viewers and told Matos he’ll need just one punch to knock him out.
“I will just shock them. I will give them a good show. Hindi ako aatras. Isang ‘bigwas’ ka lang, Matos [I won’t back down. You’re worth just one punch Matos],” GMA News quoted him as saying.
Geisler added he is confident about his upcoming match because of his rigid training regimen.
“But of course, my main goal is to win this fight. Sometimes I train for four to five hours a day. No drinking. I used to smoke three times a day,” he said.
The actor also ribbed his opponent; saying that his main advantage is he’s a human while Matos is a monkey.
For his part, a more-reserved Matos said he would focus on the fight itself rather on the results.
“Para sa akin it’s too soon to predict. Ayaw ko maging kampante kung anong round, kung kailan ko siya pababagsakin. Nilalagay ko lang sa isip ko na malakas ang kalaban,” he said.
[For me it’s too soon to predict. I don’t want to speculate what round and when I will beat him. What I’m putting in my mind is that I have a strong opponent.]
Geisler and Matos are set to fight a mixed martial arts exhibition match as a special undercard in the upcoming URCC event on Friday, June 25, to settle their differences after the pair figured in an altercation inside a bar.
