The whole country is on stand by with the inauguration of the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. We are all in high hopes that this commemorates the day where promises will start to be fulfilled and genuine change ought to take place.
Duterte’s sister, Eleanor, thinks the same. She arrived just in time for her brother’s inauguration in Malacañang. In her interview she said that their late mother, Soledad Duterte, would have been immensely proud of Duterte’s victory in the presidential race. But she added that their mother had always believed in his son’s capabilities even though Rodrigo Duterte grew up being hard-headed, and making troubles in school.
She said “”I’m happy not because I’m the sister, but I’m happy that my mother answered my prayer. Siya talaga. Kung buhay lang ang nanay ko, hindi makapaniwala yun,” She also wished that their mom is alive to witness this momentous occasion. “If my mother were alive today, she probably will be dumbfounded that her son became the first Mindanaoan to sit in the office,”
Meanwhile, she shared that their would have had a quite different reaction with their mother, and would probably wonder how Digong could have made it. Quoting from her interview, she said “My father will probably scratch his head how his son became president,” she said. “Di ba kinukwento niya (Duterte) na tinapon siya ng Ateneo, nag-graduate siya dun sa high school sa Holy Cross.”
But Eleanor ended her interview saying that it must have been th destiny of his brother from the very start after all. “Well, there’s such a thing as destiny. Fate and destiny, sometimes, is hard to question,” she said.
