- Duterte supporter pens open letter to Davao City mayor, hopes he can read it
- She encouraged Duterte to not respond to his critics’ bashing anymore, employ silence instead
- She also assured Duterte he still enjoys the full backing of his supporters
MANILA, Philippines – Don’t respond. Be silent instead.
With critics of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte having a field day against him over his controversial rape remarks and follow-ups, one supporter appealed to the mayor to take the moral high ground and not anymore respond to the negative remarks.
On her Facebook account, lady physician Andrea Carigma encouraged Duterte not to be taken in by his emotions and lash back at those being employed to bash him by a “strong hand” behind the scenes.
“So, don’t let it get the best of you. It seems to have found your weakness. Be the better person and don’t rise to the occasion,” she said, adding that Duterte should instead conserve his strength especially as the elections draw closer.
Carigma also assured Duterte that he still enjoys the faith and trust of his supporters.
“I, and a lot of Filipinos still believe in you. You are not alone in this race. We are one with you. We want the Philippines to be better, and we want you with us,” she said.
To Fellow Supporters as Well
Aside from Duterte, Carigma said she is also directing this letter to her fellow supporters.
“That is why I am rallying every supporter, you have to be resilient to every negation thrown at them— to have a ban on bashing, no more negative remarks, because sometimes, silence is sharper than a blade that can kill. At this point, that is our best defense. Halos two weeks nalang sir. Kaya natin ‘yan. [It’s just almost two weeks sir. We can do this.]
Ending her post, Cargima told Duterte she and her fellow supporters are willing to be the ‘superego’ to his ‘ID’ in order tokeep him in check.
“You are our ID. Let us be your superego,” she said.
