FUJI, Japan – A video showing a group of young Japanese Grade 6 students doing an impressive group skipping routine has caught the admiration of the online community — making their clip viral.
Ashleigh Davis mentioned in her article for Mail Online published on March 27 that the video was uploaded by the Fuji Jump Rope Association on their Facebook page, and has attracted millions of viewers.
The video clip started showing two kids holding each end of a long skipping rope while a queue of children stands nearby; ready to jump in.
As can be seen on the clip, while the rope was continuously turned, groups of four children in a line with linked arms jump through the rope in a continuous pattern, amazingly, without missing a rope turn or stopping in between.
After completing the routine, the children let out a loud cheer; most of whom jumped around with their hands in the air and hugging each other.
Fuji Jump Rope Association, which is a program supported by the Fuji City Board of Education, said the exercise is part of the Kattobi graduation project.
The video, which was uploaded on March 18 and was viewed nearly 6 million times, has received comments from all over the world.
Facebook user RH Pizarro said the video didn’t show any special genes but rather the product of discipline.
“It’s not that they have super special genes. The difference is that they are very disciplined, from when they are small and that makes it the best in everything that they intend to do,” Pizarro said.
“If they put that discipline in several aspects of their life, they wouldn’t be envying the achievements of others,” the Facebook user added.
“It reminded me of my childhood when I went out to play on the street,” said Facebook user M. Hernandez.
