TABUK CITY — The female cadet from the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) who was reported to have been abducted in Zambales on Wednesday has allegedly freed herself from her abductors after escaping on Thursday.

Albano said that Regina Batil, mother of the 18-year-old female cadet, has been informed the following day after the reported abduction that her daughter is now under the custody of their kins in Manila.
Based on reports from the police blotter, the cadet was forcibly taken at a bus stop in San Antonio town at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to Rosenia Artap, the cadette’s landlady, she left her boarding house in Barangay La Paz at 2 p.m.
Artap said Janina Batil left the house to withdraw money from the Land Bank.
Earlier reports also indicated that the victim’s mother received a text message from her daughter telling her that she was forced into a black tinted van carrying children.
The mother said the text message prompted her to inform the police and seek their assistance.
The mother has gone to Manila to fetch the cadet, who was apparently in a state of shock.
