Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took to Instagram to apologize after she posted a photoshopped photo of herself , which was a preview of her guesting at “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
The 29-year-old mix martial artist’ followers commented that the image made her muscular arms look slimmer.
Rousey explained she didn’t know her photo was altered.
She posted the unedited and the photoshopped photos side-by-side and wrote: “I have to make an apology to everyone – I was sent a picture to share on social for Fallon that was altered without me knowing to make my arms look smaller. I won’t say by who – I know it was done with severely misplaced positive intentions – but this goes against everything I believe and I am extremely proud of every inch of my body. And I can assure you all it will never happen again. I could not be more appalled and hope you all forgive me.”
In the past, Rousey was criticized for her muscular arms but she emphasized that every part of her has a function.
In previous interviews, she said she realized her body has developed for a purpose and not just to be looked at so she stopped thinking her muscular body is a bad thing
She is proud of her body, which she flaunted when she posed wearing nothing but a colorful painted-on swimwear on a Caribbean beach for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue.
An article written by Kirik Jenness for MMA.tv quoted Rousey as saying: “I was one of the lucky few chosen to be a canvas for a hand painted masterpiece that took 14 hours to put on.”
