- Colorful mayor brushes off former friend’s dare to bare his medical records
- He says Filipinos will still choose a sickly him over a healthy Roxas
- He also assures supporters he’s fine, says he will continue his campaign trail
MANILA, Philippines – Firing off verbal jabs against Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas for daring him to reveal his medical records, a recovered Rodrigo Duterte threw back a counter-challenge to his erstwhile friend.
“Tanungin mo muna siya kung tuli ba siya? Hambugin ko itong… Why could he suffer an accident like me kung ang motor niya ilang metro lang matumba siya. Eh hindi naman buhay lalaki si Mar eh. Kaming mga ano, marami kaming bali,” he told ABS-CBN. “I will not do that as a matter of policy. What am I, a fool? It’s like you’re forcing me to say I’m not a liar.”
Continuing his tirade against Roxas, Duterte said the Filipino people would choose him over the former even if he only had a few days to live.
“Alam n’yo, kung gusto ako ng Pilipino, maski alam nila na isang linggo na lang akong buhay, payag na yan sila. Susugal na yang Pilipino sa akin. Pero yang si Mar, maski mabuhay yan 20 taon, hindi magsusugal sa kanya. Tingnan mo ang [survey] ratings hanggang ngayon,” he said.
At the same time, Duterte assured the public he is healthy and raring to finish his grueling campaign tour. He added it is only the will of God that can stop him from becoming president.
“Huwag na nila akong alalahanin. Ang alalahanin nila sarili nila para makaboto sila,” he said. “Destiny is God. When you say destiny, it is the act of God. If God wants me to be there, I will be there. If God does not want me to be president, I will never be president.”
