- Engineer posts unsettling picture of dead roach sticking to siomai in Chinese restaurant
- The Chinese restaurant is a popular destination in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
- They are planning to elevate the matter to the Department of Health
BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental—First there was the mouse in the coffee, now there’s this.
On his Facebook, engineer and building official Armand Sayat Claver posted pictures of a dead cockroach sticking to a piece of pork siomai he ordered from a popular Chinese restaurant which has its roots in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
The incident happened last February 9 at the restaurant’s branch in an Ayala mall in Talisay City which is just north of Bacolod.
According to Claver, he was having dinner at the L’Sea Dimsum and Noodle House in The District Mall North Point together with his wife, two daughters, two granddaughters and their father when they discovered a dead cockroach sticking to one of the pieces of pork siomai they ordered.
Disgusted, he did not pay for the order and took pictures of siomai as proof.
Despite the restaurant supervisor apologizing, Claver— who said he was left disappointment by the incident because the restaurant was one of his family’s favorites— indicated he would take the matter to health authorities if they cannot reach an amicable settlement.
“As a member of the Joint Inspection Team of the Business Permit and Licensing Office of the City of Talisay, I will not tolerate this matter and I am planning to elevate this issue to (the) Department of Health if you could not settle this as we are victims especially my granddaughters who ate the food and they are still very young and have no resistance against diseases. Since cockroach are agents and carriers of diseases,” he wrote.
