Breaking into the showbiz industry through her famous fast food chain commercial with Aga Muhlach, child wonder Serena Dalrymple quickly rose to fame not only with her cute disposition, but also her admirable acting prowess.
Since then, Serena became one of the most-sought after child actresses of her time. Back in the day, she starred in popular movies including “Haba-baba-doo, puti-puti-poo!,” “Tong Tatlong Tatay Kong Pakitong-Kitong,” “Hiling,” “Mila,” “Ang Tanging Ina,” and “Wansapanataym: The Movie.” A testament to her acting skills was when she bagged the “Best Child Actress” award for the movie “Bata, Bata, Pa’no Ka Ginawa?” in 1998.
After starring in numerous movies and shows, Serena decided to quit acting. In an exclusive interview with PUSH, the child star shared her reason for leaving the industry. She said:
“Marami akong reasons for leaving showbiz and Philippines. One of the biggest reasons was during the time na wala ako masyadong projects, and I realized na I can’t rely on just my acting career I need a back-up plan, eventually my back-up plan became my priority. I chose studies over acting.”
In 2010, she completed a Business Administration degree from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Manila. After college, Serena moved to San Francisco, U.S.A. to live with her sister.
The child wonder chose to pursue her studies in London. She took up graduate studies in London and graduated in 2014, earning the International Business degree from Hult International Business School.
After earning her educational degrees and being away from the industry for a number of years, the former child star’s life has changed so much. Serena has paved herself a way to a successful career path.
Serena Dalrymple embarked on a working experience as a Sourcing Analyst in the famous American film studio, Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, California from 2014 to 2016.
In an interview with PUSH last 2015, she revealed she misses acting, but not quite enough to leave her job. She stated:
“I miss acting, but not enough to quit my job and move back to the Philippines. I don’t think so.”
The child star currently shines in The Empire State as a corporate professional. Serena is now a manager at Viacom, a leading global entertainment content company in New York.
Even though some of us miss her presence in the limelight, it is still such a relieving sight to see the child star happy and content with her current status in life.
