What’s new with Jeyrick “Carrot Man” Sigmaton after becoming viral famous?

Last year served to be the best year yet for Jeyrick Sigmaton after going viral on social media. The vegetable farmer from Mountain Province was snapped carrying a basket by a netizen who thought he bore a resemblance to Korean star Jang Geun Suk. The viral photo was put up on Facebook and soon after made rounds online – earning him the nickname of “Carrot Man”.

With his undeniable good looks, it was expected that huge brands launched the now-famous Igorot as their newest face. From the mountains to the modeling world, Jeyrick snagged a handful of endorsement deals with local style and fashion brands. He also appeared as a guest in a few TV programs. But, it was in the North wherein the ‘Carrot Man’ became in demand, for he’s been a frequent special guest at live shows during regional festivities such as the Panagbenga Festival.

According to a news story from GMA, Jeyrick reportedly settled in Baguio. As he talked with the “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” team, the ‘Carrot Man’ said that he’s been maintaining his short hairstyle because of the much warmer climate. He also shared that while it took some getting used to, the instant celebrity is now comfortable with the fame and attention he’s been getting from his fans.

“Nung nag-viral ako, napunta ako sa iba’t ibang lugar at bansa. Nakaipon ng kaunting income mula sa mga event na siyang ginagamit ko para sa pag-aaral ng aking mga kapatid.”

Despite the blessings and opportunities given to Jeyrick, he still focuses on his education. Afterall, his goal is to help with the schooling of his younger siblings once he finishes high school.

Although his newfound fame has it’s benefits, the ‘Carrot Man’ feels it’s important that he’s been given the chance to share the culture and traditions of the Ekachacran in Mountain Province. He also expressed his gratitude towards social media, through which he was able to bring pride to his tribe.
