For a few days now, reports of an elderly taxi driver being slapped by a woman in the middle of Congressional Road going towards Visayas Avenue in Quezon City went viral on social media. The woman has already issued an apology to the taxi driver, but supporters of the latter indicated that she should face the consequences of her actions.
Just recently, Rappler reported that the taxi driver, Virgilio Doctor, has decided to file a formal complaint against Cherish Sharmaine Interior, the woman who confronted him. Doctor approached the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after the incident.
He also appeared in a video to tell his side of the story. The taxi driver said:
“Okay lang po sa ‘kin lahat-lahat, nag-sorry na po ako kung sakaling ako man ang nagkamali. Kaso mananakit pa. Pinalo na nga ng tubo, wala namang masyadong basag sa salamin konti-konti lang.”
Doctor added that he felt dizzy after the incident and as a result, suffered a stroke. On Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, the taxi driver met with LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada to file a case against Interior.
Based on the report, he would be charging her with physical injuries and damage to property. Land Transportation Office (LTO) Law Enforcement Director Francis Ray Almora stated that their government agency will write a report on the incident at Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017.
In an additional report by Philippine Star, they cited that LTFRB wants to suspend Interior’s driving license. According to Lizada, “We will file charges with the LTO. We want to let the LTO to decide if this kind of driver is fit to drive.”
The source said:
“Doctor and Interior also filed charges of unjust vexation, slight physical injury and malicious mischief against each other before the Quezon City Police District Station 3.”
