A 21-year-old woman went viral across the internet after being Britain's youngest surrogate mother. But there's more to the story.
Shaniece Sturdy was a teenager when she got pregnant and had her first son, Rylee. It was about the same time when she happened to watch a documentary featuring surrogacy. She then developed a desire to someday help couples who are struggling to have their own children. So when the opportunity arrived, she decided to do it. After all, she needed to support her son financially.
"I was only 21 at the time, but I wasn’t interested in partying and drinking. I wanted to help another couple fulfill their family dream and raise Rylee properly."she shared.
She agreed to carry a baby for the couple Joanna and Steve. She prepared for the process thoroughly and even researched for it herself. Shaniece then flew all the way to Los Angeles so Joanna's eggs could be implanted in her.
During the process, Shaniece noted that her bump was a bit bigger than usual. It was then revealed in their first ultrasound, that they were expecting twins! The couple were overwhelmed with the good news and couldn't take Shaniece enough.
But they were dumbfounded to find out that she was actually carrying triplets! They found this out, 10 weeks later, after another ultrasound.
After 9 months, Shaniece gave birh to Willow, Harrison, and Daisy. Up to this time, she is still welcome to visit the triplets, especially during their birthdays.
"Even though I was only 21 and it was a huge responsibility carrying their babies, it was one of the best experiences of my life," she said.
