Being an overseas Filipino worker has never been easy, as stories of abuse and maltreatment have always been a staple of our news feeds. Countless cases of rape and death have been reported where the usual victims are domestic helpers.
In Farwaniya, the case is not so different--a 25-year-old Filipina worker was said to be sexually assaulted by an Egyptian man who posed as a doctor. According to Arab Times Online, she went to him for a medical examination but the man raped her instead, four times.
She reported the incident to Farwaniya Police Station and claimed that she was a housemaid in the flat of an Egyptian expatriate. According to her, the man held her hand and said that he would perform a medical examination on her.
The woman attempted to escape but the fake Egyptian doctor had pushed her into the bedroom and sexually assaulted her. She immediately left the flat and reported the incident to the police.
The Egyptian man was arrested and has confess that he had indeed raped the woman. The authorities were able to take necessary actions against him.
