Even in the face of poverty Jaymar Comendador, a member of the cleaning staff working at Hotel Sogo’s Dau branch, didn’t hesitate to return the money he found while he was cleaning one of the hotel rooms last Saturday, December 16.
According to Mhar de Jesus, Hotel Sogo Dau branch’s senior manager, one of their Australian guests left Php 240,000 worth of cash and other expensive belongings in his room. When Jaymar found the money, he immediately reported it to his supervisors.
Robert Nay, the Australian guest, could not believe his luck when he returned to the hotel and got his money back. The huge amount could have tempted whoever found it to keep it for themselves.
“Thanks to Mr. Jayward, the room attendant who found the bag inside the room and turn overed [sic] the same amount to the management of Hotel Sogo Dau,” Nay said.
As a gesture of appreciation, the hotel’s management recognized Jaymar’s honesty and are planning to promote him.
Truly, not all hope is lost. There are still ‘Good Samaritans’ in this country who show honesty and care towards others.
Good job and congratulations, Jaymar! You are a true inspiration to us all!
