Much controversy surrounds the former Filipina candidate of Miss Earth 2016. After falling short in the final 16 cut, Miss Earth Philippines 2016 made another controversial comment.
In an interview in Tito Boy’s Tonight With Boy Abunda, the 21-year old blamed her disappointing run on the lack of support she got from the Filipinos. Schweighart is only the second Filipina to miss out on the top 16 cut in the pageant.
“Nobody like assisted me. Emotionally I’m drained from all the work and from not being myself. You know yung pagpipigil sa totoong ako, it’s just too much for me. Parang I cannot be myself because you have to be this, you have to be that,” she said.
Schweighart also explained her decision of stepping down following her controversial statements regarding Miss Earth 2016 who was Miss Ecuador Katherine Espin and her lackluster performance in the said pageant.
She has also become a subject of hate for her comments regarding President Duterte’s similarities with Adolf Hitler.
“My mom is pulling me out from this mess people are getting me into. I did it myself, but it’s sad that people are doing this to me. And they are the ones calling me crazy,” Schweighart told the Philippine Daily Inquirer in a phone interview after meeting with pageant organizer Carousel Productions in the group’s headquarters in Mandaluyong City on Monday afternoon.
The Filipino-German also took her time to lash out to her haters, saying that she can say what she want because it is her right.
