The government remains aggressive with their war against illegal drugs amid issues of extrajudicial killings. Recently, President Duterte once again dropped names of generals, mayors and other government officials who are allegedly linked to illegal drugs.
Recently, numerous celebrities have been arrested, namely Krista Miller and former matinee idol, Mark Anthony Fernandez, due to illegal drugs. With this, many have urged the PNP to reveal other celebrities in their drug watch list.
However, veteran actor, Rez Cortes disagrees. Cortez, who is also the president of the Katipunan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon (KAAPT) or Actors Guild of the Philippines said that the revelation wouldn’t be a help to these users.
“Yung mga artista, mga users. Kung papangalanan mo ‘yung mga artista na user, pangalanan mo rin ‘yung three million na users [The actors and actresses are users. If you would reveal the names of the actors and actresses who are using illegal drugs, then you should also name the three million illegal drug users],”he said.
Meanwhile, 54 names, including a TV host, and other known celebrities have been submitted by the PNP headed, by Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, to the President. The list allegedly came from arrested drug suppliers.
