- Franz Sabalones identified drug personalities and his protectors in the PNP
- Sabalones admitted giving weekly payola to various police officials in his area of operations
Franz Sabalones, a confessed drug lord in Central Visayas who recently surrendered, was described by a Philippine National Police (PNP) official as the “best” among drug personalities who turned themselves in to police authorities.
According to Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo of Sun Star, police authorities said Sabalones provided vital information about illegal drugs operations in Central Visayas.
Chief Superintendent Roel Obusan, director of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Sabalones was the best they got last Monday, August 8.
“He is the best that we got yesterday. Napakarami nyang binibigay, napakaraming dapat sundan kaya halos malito yung ating mga investigators. Napakaganda yung mga leads and it will be a very fatal blow sa mga drug operations sa kanyang kinasasakupan,” Obusan shared.
[He provided a lot of good leads that our investigators were bewildered. The leads are very good and it will be a very fatal blow to his (Sabalones) area of operations]
Obusan said Sabalones provided names of drug personalities and his protectors from the PNP. He admitted he gives P200,000 weekly payola to a police colonel and other police officials.
“Yung mga pangalang nabanggit siyempre [Of course, the names he mentioned] they will be subjected to validation and subjected to getting of evidence para naman [so that] if that evidence will warrant for a filing of cases we will file a case,” the official said.
Asked if the PNP will consider Sabalones as state witness, Obusan said they have yet to explore the possibility.
