The University of Northern Philippines in Vigan is slowly becoming the top choice for Indian students taking up pre-medicine courses or medicine related programs.
Up to 730 Indian students were enrolled at the beginning of the new school year in the said university. Among the 730, 405 are admitted at the College of Medicine, 110 are in the College of Arts and Sciences taking up either Psychology or Biology, while 215 are in the Community Health Management Program under the College of Health Sciences.
Indian nationals are choosing the university due to the good performance of graduates from the said university in the Ministry of India Medical Board Examination. Three years ago, a graduate of UNP was number one in the board examination in India.
“It’s more economical for us, the quality of education is the best and the climate condition is also similar to our place so comparing to other this is the best choice,” Bharat Ajay Kumar, a UNP Indian student.
“I have been telling my colleagues in the university handVing the foreign students, if a student fails or did not meet the general weighted average, they should be automatically out of the program,” Dr. Gilbert Arce, the University President said hoping to maintain the quality of education in the University.
