Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum believes that the upcoming match between Manny Pacquiao and World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Jessie Vargas will definitely attract Hispanic boxing fans.
The veteran boxing promoter said in an interview with Manila Times: “It’s going to be an explosive fight because it will attract a lot of Hispanic fans not only in America but also around the world.”
Both Pacquiao and Vargas are promoted by Top Rank and Arum said that the match between the two welterweight boxers on November 5 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, will attract more pay-per-view buys.
Pacquiao himself confirmed on August 10 that he will come out of his short-lived retirement and face Vargas.
Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted him as saying: “Yes, the fight is on. I have agreed to a November 5 fight with reigning WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas.
Boxing is my passion. I miss what I’d been doing inside the gym and atop the ring.”
As for Vargas, he knows that this fight is a great opportunity for him and he intends to surprise the world by beating Pacquiao.
Boxing News Online quoted him as saying: “It’s the biggest fight out there and a fight that could catapult me to the top, that’s what I’ve always wanted.
My fans are happy that I’m in this fight with Pacquiao, they know I always come to fight, I always come to give them a great performance. Everyone’s excited, I can’t wait. I won’t let my fans down and I won’t let the boxing world down because I’ll make it a great fight.
This is my chance, this is my time. I can’t wait to show why it is I hold the WBO world title.”
