MANILA, Philippines – Celebrity couple Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla are expecting a baby girl a few months from now.
The pair revealed the gender of their baby on Saturday, August 13, in a triple celebration attended by their families, close friends, and several members of the press.
Aside from the relation of their baby’s gender, the pair also celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary and Mariel’s 32d birthday at the same time.
According to an article published by Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Mariel shared that she was very happy when she learned that she’s carrying a baby girl.
“Dati, the reason why I wanted a boy, kasi marami nang girl [na anak] si Robin. Noong nalaman ko na girl, alam mo, I realized na the baby is for me, kasi God knows na girl naman talaga ang gusto ko,”
[The reason why I wanted a boy before was because Robin has a lot of daughters already. When I learned that our baby’s a girl, I realized that the baby is for me because God knows that I really want a girl.]
As for Robin, he said that all he wants is that the baby will be normal, which is also what the people around them are hoping for.
Earlier this August, the “It’s Showtime” host announced that she has gone on leave from work for the sake of her baby.
Mariel extended her gratitude to the Kapamilya Network in an interview aired on “Tonight with Boy Abunda”.
She said: “I’ll always be grateful to my ‘It’s Showtime’ family, to my ‘PBB’ family, to ABS-CBN: Thank you so much. You don’t know how much it means to me na naiintindihan nila (that they understand). I’m fighting for my baby’s life so talagang karee-rin ko muna ito (I’ll be doing all that I can do).”
Mariel suffered two miscarriages last year.
Her first miscarriage was in March last year when she was eight weeks and three days pregnant. She suffered another miscarriage in August last year wherein she lost her triplet pregnancy.
For her third pregnancy, she’s is undergoing heparin treatment to increase her chances of giving birth.
During the gender-reveal party, Mariel admitted that although it’s not an easy pregnancy, she’s actually enjoying it.
