CEBU CITY – Good friends Regine Velasquez and Donna Cruz reunited onstage for an impromptu duet.
Donna was a part of the audience during the Cebu leg of Regine’s free concert entitled “PLDT Home The Regine Series Nationwide Tour” .held at SM City Cebu last Saturday, July 30, when the “Asia’s Songbird” called her to come up on stage.
Regine asked Donna, who has been based in Cebu since she married her husband Yong Larrazabal in 1998, if they can sing “I Can”; the theme song of their 1996 movie “DoReMi”.
The movie, which also starred Mikee Cojuangco, is considered to be the most successful Filipino musical comedy.
It used the concept of three female singers who, “as they sing their way through life’s ups and downs, they build a friendship strong enough to last a lifetime.”
According to an article published by Philippine Entertainment Portal, Regine shared she was very happy to see Donna and that the latter happily obliged to sing with her.
As for Donna, she said she’s very happy that she got to sing with Regine again.
“It’’s a great feeling pag nakakasama mo ulit ang isang matagal nang kaibigan [when you get to be with a longtime friend],” she added.
Both of them admitted that they miss Mikee.
They said they are open to doing another project together if they receive an offer.
In fact, Donna shared during the concert that there are a lot of people requesting them to do a “DoReMi” part two.
